ACCOMMODATIONS FOR IB and AP EXAMS

Assessment for Standardized Admission Exams: IB / AP / SAT / ACT / GMAT / GRE / LSAT / MCAT

We provide specialized psychoeducational assessments that help individuals qualify for accommodations on IB and AP exams as well as standardized graduate admissions exams, such as the SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT and MCAT.

If you have Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning and Cognitive Disorders, or certain Psychological Disabilities that can affect your ability to perform on these types of standardized entrance exams, you may qualify for a variety of accommodations available for test takers with disabilities. The most common accommodations include:

  • Additional testing time: 50 percent (time and one-half) or 100 percent (double time)
  • Additional or extended rest breaks, which can be used for medication, snacks, or trips to the restroom.
  • A reader who can read items to you
  • A recorder who can record your responses
  • JAWS software or Zoom Text

Each exam has their own list of available accommodations, but almost all require test-takers to follow a set of accommodation request procedures. These procedures typically include having a professional, such as a clinical psychologist or educational psychologist, conduct an updated assessment of current functioning. The evaluation must provide a clear DSM diagnosis and a detailed description of how the reported symptoms affect the test taker’s ability to function in academic, occupation and social settings. We cannot overstate the importance of early planning for academic success!
